Run for Education - Let’s Run Like Jaguars!
We’d love to see a strong showing of Jaguar pride on race day. Join our Iron Horse team by registering for the 5K at srvef.org!
Not able to join us on race weekend? You can still support Iron Horse! Register as a Virtual Runner, sponsor a friend, or make a pledge to one of our participating staff members: Mr. Sprickman, Mrs. Keeler, or Ms. Norris.
And the staff leaderboard is getting competitive! Mr. Sprickman is currently a close second — help him overtake Jackie Young!
Never done a 5K? No problem! You don’t have to be a runner to participate. Walk the course, try the new 1.5-mile course, or join the FREE SRVUSD Family Training Run on Thursday, September 10 at 5:45 PM at Sports Basement San Ramon. All paces and experience levels are welcome, and snacks and drinks will be provided.

The Reflections Art Contest is here!
The Reflections Art Contest is a National PTA program that lets students express their creativity through art!
This year's theme is "What My Culture Means to Me." Students can enter original work in one (or more!) of these categories: - Dance Choreography
- Film Production
- Literature
- Music Composition
- Photography
- Visual Arts
The Reflections Art Program is open to ALL students. The National PTA Accessible Arts division is an option for students who identify as having a disability and may receive services under IDEA or ADA: Section 504 to have the opportunity and accommodations they may need in order to participate fully in the program. The division offers modified rules and guidelines to ensure that every student has the chance to be part of the National PTA Reflections program.
All grade levels at Iron Horse are welcome to participate. Each entry must be an original creation inspired by the theme, and should include a title and a short artist statement (10–100 words).

Homework Club
If your student would like a quiet place to get their homework done, they can come to Homework Club on Mondays and Thursdays from 3-3:40 pm.
Each day is in a different classroom - see link below for the semester 1 room schedule.

Froyo Thursday!
Stop by the Menchie’s sales table in front of the traffic circle every Thursday after school and grab a treat! Yogurt is $5, boba drinks are $6, and toppings are $1 each (dairy-free/vegan options available). Cash only!

Loaner Chromebook Procedures
Students must bring their Chromebooks to school every day (fully charged) - If a student forgets to bring their Chromebook to school, they must call home to request theirs be dropped off at school before they may check out a loaner. If a student repeatedly forgets to bring their Chromebook to school, they may receive detention.
- If a student is having technical issues with their Chromebook, they must submit an IT ticket before they may check out a loaner. Submit an IT ticket HERE

Forgotten Items
Students are to check in at the office during break or lunch if they discover that they have forgotten an item at home. - If a parent chooses to deliver forgotten items, they may be dropped off at the main office and placed on the “I forgot table” for their student to retrieve them.
- It is not school policy to deliver items or take messages to the classroom (unless it is an emergency) due to the potential disruption that may occur.
- The office cannot be responsible for items left at the front desk.

Sixth Grade Bash
Hello Sixth Grade Families!
Our annual Sixth Grade Bash (fun for sixth graders only) is coming up on Friday, September 18th from 3:00-4:15 PM. We will celebrate the start of the school year on our campus and MPR with games and also food should your student wish to buy something.
The $5.00 tickets will be on sale between September 14-17 on Future Fund, or your student can come to the Leadership room (PT-3) at lunch.

CJSF Bulletin Announcement California Junior Scholarship Federation
Click HERE for the 2026-2027 Semester 1 application link (8th graders only). The link opens on Monday, August 24 at 8:30 a.m. and closes on Thursday, September 10 at 9:00pm. No late applications will be accepted.
7th graders can qualify after their first semester grades are posted. They may join in January during the Spring semester. 6th graders are not eligible for CJSF.

Volunteers Needed at Iron Horse!
Looking for a way to support our students and staff? Iron Horse currently needs volunteers in two areas:
Library Support: Help shelve and check books in and out, assist students in locating materials, and keep the library organized and welcoming. Lunch Supervision: Provide an additional adult presence to help keep lunchtime safe, organized, and enjoyable for everyone.
All volunteers must be fully approved through Be A Mentor before signing up.
Whether you can volunteer regularly or occasionally, your time makes a meaningful difference. Thank you for supporting our Iron Horse community!

Parcel Tax Oversight Committee Members Needed
SCHOOL DISTRICT SEEKS PARCEL TAX OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE MEMBERS: The San Ramon Valley Unified School District is seeking members for its Parcel Tax Oversight Committee.
The committee provides oversight for the Board of Education to ensure that the funds are spent as intended by the voters of the parcel tax. The committee will meet at least twice per year and report on an annual basis to the Board and community on how these funds have been spent. All meetings are open to the public.
Six members and one alternate will be appointed by the school board for a two-year term. They will not be compensated and will serve no more than two consecutive terms. Members shall reside within the boundaries of the SRVUSD and shall be registered voters.

Applications are due no later than 3:00 PM September 11, 2026.
The board will review qualified applicants, and recommendations/appointments will be made at the Board of Education meeting on October 13, 2026.

Upcoming SRVUSD Board of Education Election and Candidate Forum for Area 5 Candidates on October 8th
The SRVUSD Board of Education Trustee seats for Areas 1, 4, and 5 are open for election this November. The candidates for Areas 1 (Amanda Butland) and Area 4 (Susanna Ordway - incumbent) are unopposed, so their contests will not be on the ballot, and they both will be seated at the Board's organizational meeting in December. For Area 5, there are two candidates: Joel Woods and Rachel Hurd (incumbent).
Not sure which Area you live in? See the San Ramon Valley Unified 2022-2030 Trustee Election Area Interactive Map. After selecting the box in the lower left corner of the landing page and hitting OK. Enter your address to determine which trustee area you reside in.

Nominate a Student for Innovation Tri-Valley 2026 DreamMakers and RiskTakers Awards
Innovation Tri-Valley (ITV) Leadership Group is searching for students who are DreamMakers and RiskTakers. The student recipients of the annual DreamMakers and RiskTaker Awards are selected by the ITV Education and Workforce Development Committee with final approval of the President or Superintendent of each host educational organization based on common criteria.
Characteristics of DreamMakers and RiskTakers: - They have accomplished something important and made an impact with a focus on Innovation (i.e. Technical Innovations, Inventions, Social Innovations, Artistic creations or accomplishments); and
- They have grit – maybe they are not an A student, but perhaps they have demonstrated resilience, courage, passion, creativity and/or innovation.
- Students with disabilities and students of all socio-economic backgrounds will be considered equally.
SUBMISSION PROCESS: Nominations can be made by individuals nominating themselves or educators/mentors/ parents/administrators nominating students. The Innovation Tri-Valley Leadership Group Selection Committee will review submissions and will present finalists to Superintendents, Principals, and Administrators of appropriate school districts for final selection. Nominated Students must be in good standing.
All nominations must be submitted with this form by Friday, September 25, 2026.

Upcoming Youth Heart Screening: Protecting Our Community’s Future
Join Us October 3 for Lifesaving Heart Health Checks
The Kyle J Taylor Foundation is proud to host a Youth Heart Screening event on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 10 AM to 3 PM at San Ramon Valley High School. This screening is open to youth ages 12–25 and is designed to detect hidden heart conditions that standard well-child exams and sports physicals often miss. Register today!
Each screening takes just 45 minutes and includes a cardiac risk assessment, EKG, and a doctor review. The process is noninvasive and painless, making it easy for participants to safeguard their health. With 23,000 U.S. youth affected by Sudden Cardiac Arrest every year and 1 in 300 having an undetected heart condition, this event offers a vital opportunity to protect our young people.
The screening is a collaborative effort by SRVUSD, City of San Ramon, Town of Danville, San Ramon Fire Protection District, and Contra Costa County. Don’t miss this chance to take proactive steps for your child’s well-being—register today and help us build a healthier, safer community!
