IHMS PTA donations help bring our school community to life by supporting student programs, activities, staff appreciation, health and wellness initiatives, Career Day, Reflections, Student of the Month, promotion activities, community events, and much more.
IHMS Education Fund donations help fund programs and staffing that go beyond what district funding alone can provide, supporting opportunities that directly impact students throughout the school year.

Volunteers Needed at Iron Horse!
Looking for a way to support our students and staff? Iron Horse currently needs volunteers in two areas:
Library Support: Help shelve and check books in and out, assist students in locating materials, and keep the library organized and welcoming. Lunch Supervision: Provide an additional adult presence to help keep lunchtime safe, organized, and enjoyable for everyone.
All volunteers must be fully approved through Be A Mentor before signing up.
Whether you can volunteer regularly or occasionally, your time makes a meaningful difference. Thank you for supporting our Iron Horse community!

Street Smarts Bike Festival - Sunday, September 12
IHMS students had the opportunity to learn all about street safety at our Street Smarts Assembly on Tuesday. Now they can join the fun at the annual Street Smarts Bike Festival on Sunday, September 12. The fan-favorite obstacle course is back, an awesome band will play, and our police partners will be on hand to offer training and information. Food, face painting, and even henna tattoos will be available. See the flyer for details!

Sixth Grade Bash is coming!
September 18th, 3:00-4:15. $5.00 tickets sold online and at lunch in front of PT-3 from 9/14-9/17. The waiver must be completed in order to attend.

The Run for Education is Coming to Iron Horse!
This year’s 43rd Annual Run for Education is extra special for our Jaguar community — Iron Horse Middle School is the host site!
Join fellow Iron Horse students, families, staff, and community members on Sunday, October 11 for a morning of fun, fitness, and school spirit. Choose from the 5K, 10K, 1.5 Mile Friendship Run, or Mini Run, then stick around and enjoy the Expo.
Let’s show the San Ramon Valley just how much Jaguar pride we have and fill the course with Iron Horse runners! Whether you’re racing, walking, or cheering from the sidelines, we’d love to see our community out in full force.

Run for Eduction Spirit Day - Thursday, September 3
Get ready for Spirit Day!! On Thursday, September 3, all SRVUSD schools and departments will celebrate a district-wide Run for Education Spirit Day. Students and staff are encouraged to show their excitement by wearing Run for Education gear, including hats, shirts, medals, or gear from previous Runs for Education. The ‘Most Spirited School’ will receive a prize.

Parcel Tax Oversight Committee Members Needed
SCHOOL DISTRICT SEEKS PARCEL TAX OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE MEMBERS: The San Ramon Valley Unified School District is seeking members for its Parcel Tax Oversight Committee.
The committee provides oversight for the Board of Education to ensure that the funds are spent as intended by the voters of the parcel tax. The committee will meet at least twice per year and report on an annual basis to the Board and community on how these funds have been spent. All meetings are open to the public.
Six members and one alternate will be appointed by the school board for a two-year term. They will not be compensated and will serve no more than two consecutive terms. Members shall reside within the boundaries of the SRVUSD and shall be registered voters.

Applications are due no later than 3:00 PM September 11, 2026.

District Committee Applications - Now Open!
At SRVUSD, parent perspectives and community voices are essential to making thoughtful decisions that directly impact our students. To ensure our district continues to best serve our students, we invite you to apply to join a district committee for the 2026–2027 school year. Committees include Parcel Tax Oversight, Deep Learning, Arts Education, and many more. Committee application windows vary.

HBCU Scholarship Presentation on 8/29 @ 10 AM We are also thrilled to announce that Douglass Fort of The Blerd Academy will be holding a virtual presentation on Saturday, August 29th at 10:00-11:00 AM. The link will be visible on the FAB website prior to the event. The Blerd Academy, which has been featured in Ebony Magazine, helps high-achieving Black-American youth get scholarships to a Historically Black College or University (HBCU). This will be an excellent presentation to attend if your student(s) is interested in attending an HBCU and/or acquiring a scholarship to attend an HBCU.

Nominate a Student for Innovation Tri-Valley 2026 DreamMakers and RiskTakers Awards Innovation Tri-Valley (ITV) Leadership Group is searching for students who are DreamMakers and RiskTakers. The student recipients of the annual DreamMakers and RiskTaker Awards are selected by the ITV Education and Workforce Development Committee with final approval of the President or Superintendent of each host educational organization based on common criteria.
Characteristics of DreamMakers and RiskTakers: - They have accomplished something important and made an impact with a focus on Innovation (i.e. Technical Innovations, Inventions, Social Innovations, Artistic creations or accomplishments); and
- They have grit – maybe they are not an A student, but perhaps they have demonstrated resilience, courage, passion, creativity and/or innovation.
- Students with disabilities and students of all socio-economic backgrounds will be considered equally.
SUBMISSION PROCESS: Nominations can be made by individuals nominating themselves or educators/mentors/ parents/administrators nominating students. The Innovation Tri-Valley Leadership Group Selection Committee will review submissions and will present finalists to Superintendents, Principals, and Administrators of appropriate school districts for final selection. Nominated Students must be in good standing.
All nominations must be submitted with this form by Friday, September 25, 2026.

East Coast Trip for 8th Graders
Iron Horse 8th grade families!
We wanted to let everyone know that there are still a few spaces available on our Washington D.C. and New York east coast trip over the upcoming spring break, 2027. For any families who missed our initial informational meeting in April, we will be hosting a Zoom parent informational meeting on Tuesday, September 1st at 6:00 PM. Here is a link to that meeting: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86249854229 We’d love for all interested families to attend but you do not need to attend in order to register (we will record the meeting for any families who are unable to attend). **Please note that if you have already registered, you do not need to attend.**
